The City of Quincy is currently accepting applications for part-time transit driver positions.

Job Details & Functions

Driver will be responsible to learn all bus routes. They will drive assigned routes that may begin at various locations in Quincy. Drivers will comply with all FTA rules, ADA and Illinois Department of Public and Intermodal Transportation regulations that include, but are not limited to, announcing all stops, doing pre-trip and post trip inspections, keeping track of passenger headcount and accurately completing all assigned paperwork. Drivers are responsible to fill the buses with fuel daily.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Drivers must have Class B CDL with Air Brake Option and Passenger Endorsement. Candidates must have an acceptable driving record. Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions and must be able to monitor the transit communication system when on duty.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Criminal background and pre-employment screenings are required.  Required to submit to and pass drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the Department of Transportation (DOT).  Must possess or have the ability to obtain a DOT medical examiner's certificate.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate power lift, load passengers with disabilities onto lift, and secure wheelchair and passenger within the bus. Driver must be able to stoop, bend, twist, kneel and stretch. Driver must be able to push a person in a wheelchair up a ramp. Wheelchairs with a person may weigh up to 800 pounds.
